True North Winter Style

Oh the weather outside is frightful /
But the fire is so delightful /
And since we’ve got no place to go /
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Sigh, unfortunately, I do have places to go and this dreadful, chilly weather is making it difficult! Can all my west-coast friends please send over some sunshine?! This past Sunday, the weather was slightly better, and I got to wear a somewhat “light” outfit. I paired a thick sweater underneath my Uniqlo coat from their Ultra Light Down line. I typically hate the bulkiness of winter outfits, so this jacket is great for me in this this weather because it’s super light and thin, but great at insulating body warmth. It’s also waterproof, which is perfect when I’m walking outside in the snow. In this outfit, I’m also wearing my Madewell booties for the first time!! AH. I finally decided to buy these Madewell booties, after weeks of debate! My patience did pay off though, because Madewell had a great sale recently so they were marked down a lot. I haven’t regretted this purchase for a second. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to wear these babies for long, because the snow and salt filled Toronto streets always leave boots in horrible conditions. Sigh.

Free Spirit

This past weekend, I took a spontaneous trip to LA. Luck was on my side and on a Thursday night, I had booked tickets for a Saturday morning flight and off to LA I went. First of all, I’d like to say that I was seriously in a tee and jeans for one of the days there and it was just amazing soaking up that natural vitamin D and wearing light clothes. Mind you, my winter coat was packed in my carry-on bag for my return back to winter wonderland a.k.a. Toronto. You know how people go on and on about that Cali weather? Everything they say is absolutely true. Well…yes, there are days when it’s scorching there, but I’d take that over any chilly, winter day.

Being back in Toronto, the temperature has dipped quite drastically. I don’t want to sound like a weatherman, but it’s just crazy spending one weekend in the summer heat and another in the rainy cold. Apparently, there’s also supposed to be slight flurries today, I’m just praying that winter is not as bad this year as it was last year.

Alas, here are the picture of my outfit for last Saturday! I’m sitting here reminiscing over that comfortable summer tee and bright, beautiful weather! For all you east-coasters, I feel ya!

Totally didn’t notice I was sporting an almost head-to-toe American Eagle outfit. Also!! Those are my newest Nikes that I bought (after drooling endless on the internet researching and spending weeks shoe-shopping). I’m in love with them. They’re so ridiculously flexible. They’re super light as well! I’m really into black runners now, they’re great for a street-style look and so easy to match with outfits.
