Pop of Blues

Following my previous post, I’m sharing with all of you the outfit that I wore to the afternoon tea at The Peninsula!

This dress is one of the newest outfit pieces that I bought from J. Crew. I’ve been pretty obsessed with their stuff lately, especially because they make work outfits look like so much fun to wear. Funny story is that a few days after buying this dress, a skirt from J.Crew caught my eye and I decided to buy it, only to find out that it was the exact same pattern as the dress above! So, I guess this validates my purchase? Given that I went for the pattern twice in various outfit forms. I especially like the bold shapes on the dress and the various blues that pop out. There are also two zippers that run along both sides, which gives you an option to have a dress with a side slit.

Head to Toe Uniqlo

April 30, 2015 § 2 Comments

Two weeks ago, I got to visit San Francisco–beautiful city and beautiful weather! In case you’re wondering why it took me so long to blog about it, I got pretty ill last week and didn’t have much time and energy to write much, so apologies for that! But now that I’ve gotten over my seasonal cold, I am so excited to share with you a mini-haul post of what I go from Uniqlo.

Even with less than 72 hours in the city, I had to stop by Uniqlo. This is pretty much a must in every city I’m in that has a Uniqlo because I hardly ever get to shop there unless I’m in Asia. Although, the good news is that they’re finally opening a store, actually two I believe, in Toronto, but in fall 2016–ugh it’s about time and let’s cross our fingers we get sufficient stock in the Toronto stores! Ah, it’s one of my favourite stores for basics (I swear, their heattech line is the best for winter basics) and they also have really great work clothes with various simple patterns and colors.

I was so pleased with what I found during my visit to the store. First, a striped cotton cashmere dress, which is super soft and not to mention on sale for $15USD. The second item I got was a pink polka-dotted purple blouse. I knew I wanted to pick up a blouse this time around (my last one that was similar from Uniqlo got bleached by accident in the wash–that’s one thing I don’t miss about college-using communal washers). The blouse was also the promotion item of the week and again I got this for only $15! Lastly, I got a super funky tee from the men’s section. I seriously love graphic print shirts with bold designs. Neat typography is another thing I get drawn to. This one is the Men USA OMIYAGE Graphic Short Sleeve.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), travelling with only a carry-on limits what I can bring back, so until next time, Uniqlo!

OOTD: Mix & Match

February 16, 2015 § Leave a comment

Happy long weekend! I decided to pull together a mix and match outfit consisting of stripes and faux fur! I guess this was a surprisingly good combination. I particularly liked the change in green and navy stripes form the typically white and navy palette, making the top bolder and darker to match the winter season. Paired with my pair of black pants and boots, I was ready for a fun weekend out!

True North Winter Style

November 24, 2014 § 5 Comments

Oh the weather outside is frightful /
But the fire is so delightful /
And since we’ve got no place to go /
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Sigh, unfortunately, I do have places to go and this dreadful, chilly weather is making it difficult! Can all my west-coast friends please send over some sunshine?! This past Sunday, the weather was slightly better, and I got to wear a somewhat “light” outfit. I paired a thick sweater underneath my Uniqlo coat from their Ultra Light Down line. I typically hate the bulkiness of winter outfits, so this jacket is great for me in this this weather because it’s super light and thin, but great at insulating body warmth. It’s also waterproof, which is perfect when I’m walking outside in the snow. In this outfit, I’m also wearing my Madewell booties for the first time!! AH. I finally decided to buy these Madewell booties, after weeks of debate! My patience did pay off though, because Madewell had a great sale recently so they were marked down a lot. I haven’t regretted this purchase for a second. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to wear these babies for long, because the snow and salt filled Toronto streets always leave boots in horrible conditions. Sigh.

Dash of Gold

October 15, 2014 § 4 Comments

A quick post of a nifty heather grey sweater I bought from J. Crew a few weeks ago. I actually had a really difficult time deciding whether I should purchase this or not because in general I’m not the biggest fan of the heather grey color. I feel like the color suits more of a sleepwear look. But, ultimately what got me was the exclamation point! It’s silly, but I love it! It’s so expressive and I just couldn’t stop thinking about this sweater after I left the J. Crew store. It actually wasn’t until I came back home and found it at a store in Canada, that I figured this was probably a sign and made the purchase!image

Admittedly, I wear this on a Friday sometimes because…TGIF :) At my firm, we get to have denim Fridays, so pairing this with jeans along with a blazer makes for a very comfortable last day of the workweek. What drew me to this sweater, aside from the exclamation point (!), was definitely  the gold stitching they used. I’m definitely loving that little bit of gold color.

Back to Business

This title pretty much sums it all up. Don’t worry Natsumi and I haven’t been kidnapped by aliens or anything, we’ve just been really, really busy lately! These past few weeks since coming back from Los Angeles, I’ve been swamped with everything!! September has definitely been crunch time for me as I was just adjusting to full-time work, was studying for the LSAT as well keeping myself on top of law school applications!! I just took the LSAT this past Saturday, thank goodness gracious that is done with. Sitting here, blogging, it’s a wonder I survived September, but I’m very excited for what’s to come now! This will be the first weekend since coming back home when I can actually have some me-time and relax. Any other pre-law students out there applying for law school right now?

I have to say though, eating right and sleeping right has definitely made September a lot less daunting as it might sound. With enough energy, I feel refreshed each day, ready to tackle whatever is ahead of me! If that’s one piece of advice I can give everyone, it would definitely have to be that! Anyway, now that the LSAT test is over with, I can get back to the blogging routine and share with you some weekly tidbits. Currently, I’m actually reading Blog, Inc. It’s a really good book for bloggers and has great tips for everyone between the status of newbie and professional. Since starting work, I’ve been trying to mix and match my wardrobe so that’s it’s not always boring. Here’s a quick outfit post that I wanted to share of what I wore to work today. Typically I don’t like wearing dress shirts, but when I paired it with this salt and pepper sweater, it toned down the seriousness and made the outfit a lot more comfortable. I paired it with black heels from Nine West, which are super comfortable.

Happy Sunday morning everyone. Coffee, sleep-ins, PJs–all checked for today! I just finished with my first week of work (hence the slight delay in this post–sorry!). On top of work, I’m also studying for the LSATs and trying to maintain a healthy eating and sleeping schedule so as you can already tell, I’m very fortunate to finally have some time to work on the blog right now! I’m always grateful for the time spent on this blog, because every day I’m reminded of how far we’ve come with this amazing creative outlet!

Today, I want to share with you some pictures of an outfit I wore a couple days ago. In this post, I’m wearing a dress from Garage Clothing, not positive if they have stores in the US, but I’ve seen a couple back home, and I picked this one up in the beginning of summer. It’s a tiered dress (if you can see closely from the first picture, there’s two tiers), which I thought was quite unique cause it gives a slight feeling of a flare at the bottom. There’s also a large cut-out on the back of the dress. I’ve definitely noticed that these types of dresses were very “in” this season (similar: Brandy Melville’s Jada Dress). I’m not complaining–they’re so comfortable! I paired this with a cardigan that I bought during my roadtrip to Santa Barbara. It’s dark blue/grey and thin enough for the summer warmth!
