Long Hair, Don’t Care

The other day while in class, I was fiddling around with my hair; braiding it, twirling it, looking for split ends. As I sat there attempting to pay attention, I appropriately got side-tracked thinking about my current hair care routine. Since my hair has been getting considerably longer, I’ve started to really take care of my hair and thought I would share it here on the blog.

A lot of people are unfamiliar with the idea of going several days without washing your hair, BUT depending on your hair type, not washing your hair as often can be healthy due to your natural oils. For me, I wash my hair 2 to 3 times a week. I’ll explain how I get away with this later!

Once a week, I’ll use one of my deep conditioners to really nourish my hair, particularly the lower half that doesn’t benefit as much from my natural oils. Currently I’m switching between Macadamia Deep Repair Masque and TRESemme Platinum Strength Renewing Deep Conditioner. Both smell AMAZING and the scent lasts in your hair for days.

Every other day, I’ll put on some extra oils to the ends of my hair. The one I’m currently using is a japanese one I found in little Tokyo, but I also like Josie Maran’s Argan oil. So in between washing my hair, I’ll use my arsenal of dry shampoos to keep the oilyness at bay. Some of my favorite include [from left to right] Paul Mitchell, Oscar Blandi, TRESemme dry shampoos. I’ll also use some baby powder at the end to top it off. If I had to recommend just one, I suggest the baby powder; it works wonders. One area of hair care I need to work on is finding a good shampoo and conditioner. Any suggestions?
